Reporting to the Manager of Housing Programs, the Supervisor of the Live Well Brantford-Brant Adult Programs leads a team of Tenant Support Coordinators (TSCs) and has the overall responsibility of the supervision and administration of day-to-day supportive housing program operations and the onsite delivery of programs and services at Marlene Avenue and Winston Court.

The LWBB Program is Housing First based housing with supports providing individualized case management and community engagement opportunities to promote recovery and wellbeing.

The LWBB Adult Programs Supervisor is accountable for the successful and efficient operation of the LWBB Adult Programs by:

  • Providing leadership to a dedicated team in the delivery of services and programs to clients;
  • Ensuring policies, procedures and obligations associated with both the LWBB Program and with Housing Operations (Property Management) are adhered to; and
  • Contributing as a member of the Housing and Homelessness Services Department management team to achieving and advancing the organization s vision, strategic goals, and operational objectives.

Qualifications

  • Possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Work or another related social science or human service
  • Five years experience in working in human services and a minimum of two years of directly related experience working with housing homeless populations
  • Working knowledge of best practices in supportive housing, the Housing First model of service delivery and harm reduction principles.
  • The understanding of issues that may be presented by clients/tenants including physical and mental health concerns, addictions issues, tenant disputes, problems with managing finances, maintenance of units, and the potential for behavioural concerns or interaction with emergency services.
  • Three to five years of staff supervision experience, preferably in a supportive housing or housing related environment.
  • Knowledge of administrative and managerial principles and practices of municipal government
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, cost control, and contracts.
  • Project management experience with the ability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess the technical skills required for planning, communicating, implementing and evaluating programs.
  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage staff performance and crisis situations.
  • A strong work ethic with the professional demeanour necessary to engage and work with staff at all levels
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, agreements and legislation relevant to supportive housing including the Housing Services Act 2011 and subsequent legislation.
  • Strong oral and written skills combined with the ability to deal with situations tactfully are necessary in to communicate complex and politically sensitive issues to Council, senior management, staff, housing providers, agencies and the public
  • Ability to read reports, research and financial data in order to make recommendations for changes in policies, procedures and processes.
  • Ability to conduct presentations and information sessions explaining complex housing information to different housing stakeholder audiences.
  • Analytical, problem solving and organizational skills to plan and develop objectives, research, develop and implement plans, and decision-making skills to respond effectively to difficult situations.
  • Excellent computer skills with ability to use software to manage and monitor databases for program administration, including Microsoft Office Suite, YARDI, Lotus Notes and HIFIS.
  • Ability to travel to various locations.
  • Possess a valid Class 'G' driver's license in good standing during the course of employment
  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • IMS 200 Certification or equivalent (ICS200) is considered an asset. Subject to course availability, certification must be achieved within the first year of employment.
