Contract Analyst (Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness)

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH) leads a national movement of individuals, organizations and communities working together to end homelessness in Canada. The CAEH works toward a Canada without homelessness. We do it by helping communities and governments across the country apply proven approaches to transform programs, policies, and systems toward the goal of ending homelessness.

THE ROLE
Reporting to the Strategy Lead, the Contract Analyst oversees the full contract life cycle from developing contracts, negotiating, monitoring, and report on outcomes. The Contract Analyst ensures contracts deliver intended results and are in support of CAEH’s mission to end homelessness. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, review and manage contracts to ensure compliance with terms, conditions, and organizational requirements.
  • Develop business processes, contract templates, workflows, and tools to support contract management, including referencing & updating approved sub-contractor lists, cross-referencing contract requirements for conflicts with other projects and objectives; administering and tracking proper contract execution before work begins; contract filing and summarization/communication to relevant parties; tracking and communicating expiration and renewal dates, etc.
  • Support the negotiation process between CAEH leadership and relevant external parties.
  • Ensure that all contractual obligations are met and proactively manage any potential risks or delays by coordinating with internal teams supporting contract deliverables and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data. Prepare and submit progress reports to internal staff and funders that highlight key milestones and financial expenditures.
  • Identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues within contract scope or execution. Determine if a replacement contract needs to be drawn up to reduce liability for the CAEH. Alert leadership of risks and recommend mitigation opportunities. 
 
Other Duties
  • In addition, other duties and special projects, as assigned, to advance the mission of reducing homelessness in Canada.
 
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate is a detail-driven, proactive professional with strong analytical skills, able to assess both quantitative and qualitative data to measure success. They are able to independently manage multiple contracts while working collaboratively with diverse teams. They excel in high-pressure environments, balancing excellent organizational skills with a customer-centric approach to build effective relationships. With a keen eye for risk management, they can quickly identify issues and drive solutions, all while maintaining exceptional communication and a deep commitment to CAEH’s mission of ending homelessness.
 
Core Qualifications and Competencies
  • 3-5 years' experience managing the contract lifecycle (design, executing, analyzing, and evaluating).
  • Highly analytical. Experience analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to ensure contracts are executed to achieve CAEH goals and deliverables.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Highly organized and ability to work independently in a virtual office setting and self-manage to achieve aggressive goals while being a strong team player. 
  • Superior technological capability especially with regards to Microsoft programs (Office 365, SharePoint and Teams). 
  • Customer service oriented with a demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, senior management, and external contacts. 
  • Experience in budgeting and assessing and evaluating return on investment.
  • Experience and confidence in negotiations, a proponent of healthy conflict (when appropriate) and skilled in conflict resolution.
  • Excellent verbal and exceptional written communication skills, providing accuracy, clarity, and professionalism in communications and documentations.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field or the equivalent combination of school/work/experience in contract management.
 
Preferred
  • Bilingual (English/French)
  • Demonstrated passion for ending homelessness and a sense of urgency to achieve this goal. 
  • A deep understanding of how policies, legislation, and local homelessness response systems affect housing outcomes for people experiencing homelessness.

Work Environment and Travel
  • This position can be located anywhere in Canada with preference for a location that is easily accessible to an international airport. 
  • This position requires the ability to work from a virtual/home office location without the standard support available at a business office.
  • Travel up to 12 days per year for CAEH meetings and events may be required.
