Who we are: The Housing Supply Representative evaluates, and cultivates new agreements with landlords in the Housing System. This role requires a high-level of customer service and interaction with private landlord staff and supportive agencies to build and improve existing relationships and gain new housing stock.The Housing Supply Representative is the first point of contact for landlords in the community and foster relationships with several landlords.

What you will do in this role:  

  • First point of contact to provide service and support to landlords for participating and manage their eligibility for Peel Housing Programs.
  • Creatively seeks out and promotes new opportunities to increase housing stock
  • Establishes strong outreach  and builds relationships with the community, property owners, realtor's, landlords, and other services to obtain new, improve or manage existing housing stock
  • Networks with community agencies, coalitions, landlord/property management, and Outreach
  • Promotes Regional incentives and programs to potential or existing landlords to entice participation in the Region of Peel’s housing stock
  • Uses current housing market information, trends and resources in order to market the Region of Peel's housing stock
  • Cooperates with other housing staff to mediate and resolve complaints from applicants and residents regarding housing unit
  • Liaises with landlord site and property management staff regarding tenant placements.
  • Facilitates and mediate concerns identified by landlords or other Housing staff to support clients
  • Regularly visits housing sites regarding new or problematic housing units identified
  • Prepares landlord-related reports including outcomes, successes and challenges supporting Housing and Homelessness Plan and overall Housing strategy at the Region of Peel
  • Provides information and assistance regarding the rent supplement, transitional housing, and other housing and homeless programs to private landlords, community agencies and politicians
  • Sends out exit interview surveys and takes the appropriate follow up action with landlords, as required
  • Processes landlord payments and responds to enquiries regarding their statements by analyzing and explaining adjustments
  • Acts as an advisor to private landlords regarding legal action under Residential Tenancies Act for those in violation of their tenancy agreements, as required
  • Acts as a liaison on behalf of the Region with paralegals, private landlords and other counsel
  • Remains current and updated on landlord laws, ordinances and regulations that impact housing 

What the role requires: 

  • Post-secondary Diploma in a Human services field along with a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in housing or homelessness, and customer service or residential property management
  • Knowledge of housing and homelessness programs at Peel, resources, and subsidy programs
  • Knowledge and application of the Residential Tenancies Act
  • Good interpersonal skills and strong communication skills to communicate with the public, staff, and community supportive agencies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Housing and Homelessness enabling technology
  • Able to work independently and as part of a larger team

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Dr., Brampton, ON worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.

It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
