The Department endeavors to provide community level response to community and individual needs through partnerships and granting in the Strategic Community Initiatives and Funding.  As service system manager in both Children’s Services and Housing Services the Department is responsible for system planning, and administration of granting of various provincial funding programs. Additionally, each of the program areas provide a number of services directly in the community.

$75,020-$88,257 per year/$41.22-$48.49 per hour
Based on a 35-hour work week
 
Contract duration
Anticipated to go until January 2026

About the job
Reporting to the Children’s Services Manager, the Child Care and Early Years Program Coordinator, is responsible to ensure the effective and efficient planning, coordination and administration of the delivery of child care services and funding and contractual reporting through the Ministry of Education. The Child Care and Early Years Program Coordinator has in-depth knowledge and skills related to program legislation, accounts payable and receivable, budget, and statistical analysis, administration, and community child care capacity building. The Child Care and Early Years Program Coordinator is the lead, while providing support on the various technological applications used by Children’s Services and the Ministry of Education.
 
Requirements
  • Post-secondary Diploma or a Degree in Business Administration or related financial field.
  • Two years previous accounting experience.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply all related legislation and policy.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills with proven ability to facilitate to various audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, engagement, and teamwork skills and experience working with diverse populations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient computer and database management skills.
  • Excellent skills in using financial spreadsheet software at the advanced level. E.g. Excel to prepare financial records and create financial reports.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a demanding and ever-changing work environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure and apply discretion and sound judgment in the areas of problem solving and decision making.
  • Organization and time management skills with the ability to work within critical time frames, meet deadlines, prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to work flexible work hours which may include evenings.
  • Valid driver’s license and personal transportation are required.
  • Clear Criminal Reference Check.
  • Ability to always maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Assets
  • Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years’ Programs and applicable guidelines and regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience in the child care and early learning system
  • Experience with adult education.
