Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Housing Services, the Supervisor, Housing Facilities is responsible for leading the overall operations of the Maintenance and Capital Projects Department. This includes coordinating with property management operations, developing and implementing long-term preventative maintenance plans, monitoring the life cycles of building systems and equipment, evaluating energy use levels and providing recommendations for enhanced efficiency, expediting unit turn overs and reducing maintenance-related vacancies, and managing outside consultants and contractors concerned with the repair of Housing facilities and assets.
The Supervisor, Housing Facilities is responsible in ensuring the proper delivery of the following:
- Provide oversight of day-to-day maintenance for 23 resident housing communities with 1300 housing units found in apartment complex, townhouse communities, and other housing models.
- Advise and guide the housing development process by providing technical expertise during design and development of housing construction.
- Develop a preventative maintenance schedule and long-term capital asset management plan based on information found within Building Condition Assessments.
- Provide oversight for housing unit turnovers and housing unit retrofits with an average of 100 units per year.
- Plan and manage capital improvements and repairs of housing communities overseeing an annual budget of 1 million dollars.
- Prepare and manage the capital budget, working with purchasing to tender of contracts while ensuring contracts are delivered to specifications and timelines.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to plan for ongoing maintenance contracts such as winter and summer site maintenance.
- Provide guidance and support to the Maintenance Supervision team
- Establishes standards and procedures for the work of the maintenance department including benchmarks and performance standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- A post-secondary degree in Engineering, applied Science Technology, or equivalent of education and experience, coupled with several years of experience in a leadership/Project Management capacity in the facilities maintenance field
- Certified Engineering Technologist certificate or red-seal trade certification in a related area, and familiar with life safety and mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated strategic leadership in decision-making, issue resolution, budget management, process improvements, along with proven analytical, writing and project management skills.
- Core competencies for the position include the ability to empathetically support the people you lead, effectively delegate responsibilities instead of tasks, and a relentless communicator that ensures everyone understands the expectations and standards.
- Have access to transportation, as travel will be required within the City of Cornwall and SDG.
The City of Cornwall offers a starting annual salary of $102,187 plus a comprehensive benefits package and OMERS pension.
