The Opportunity
The Director, Human Services (Ontario Works) will be responsible for leadership of a broad range of Community Services programs that serve residents and vulnerable persons and create vibrant communities within Muskoka. This includes integrated programs with specific focus on leadership of our Ontario Works (OW) team. Experience in OW programs, policy, and regulations is critical for success in this role. Responsible for leading the implementation, evaluation, change management, and reporting processes of integrated Human Services delivery.
 
What you will do:
  • Provide direction, leadership, guidance, and expertise in the interpretation and implementation of the provincially mandated statutory and regulatory requirements of Ontario Works within an established budget and collaborative team environment.
  • Implement perspective of an intentional person-focused style of service delivery.
  • Undertake service system planning in collaboration with other Directors and key stakeholders to increase service and value for clients and adapt to changing client needs or priorities.
  • Champion cross departmental collaboration to maximize available resources and develop/implement business processes for data-informed Human Services Integration and enhancement.
  • Negotiate with provincial officials and other external sources concerning program funding and delivery and ensure accurate and timely financial and program reports.
  • Act as the government and sector contact for human services and provide program leadership within the community.
What you will need:
  • University degree in the social sciences or related field, plus additional training in social services program areas (post-graduate degree is preferred) or equivalent.
  • Five to seven years of directly related experience pertaining to human services including at least three years progressive management experience in the field. Experience in a Municipal setting would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with vulnerable populations including from an informed person-centred perspective.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Ontario Works legislation, regulations, and requirements.
