Job Details
The Social Services Director oversees and leads the planning, development, delivery, and administration of all programs and services of the Social Services Division for the City and County of Peterborough (through a Joint Services Agreement). They ensure the implementation of municipal and provincial social service policies, programs, and legislation and ensure the efficient, effective, and unbiased service delivery to all accessing programs and services offered by the division. The Director carries out the prescribed duties of “the Administrator” as defined in the Ontario Works Act 1997.

Qualifications
Requires an individual who has a 4-year university degree in Social Work, Public Administration, or a recognized equivalent, or an appropriate combination of education and years of experience. Preference will be given to those possessing a master’s degree. To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a minimum of 10 years of related management experience in the human services field, preferably in a public sector environment. Position requires: advanced knowledge and understanding of relevant social services legislation; knowledge and demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, problem solving, program/project evaluation, budget development, financial management, report-writing, service contract negotiation and administration; excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills; proven leadership abilities including demonstrated experience in team development, conflict resolution, performance evaluation and change leadership; experience leading service delivery in a municipal environment; experience managing unionized staff; and general knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Must have proficiency in the basic applications of Microsoft Office software programs.

Salary
$144,316 - $157,747
