Technical Requirements

OMSSA will be hosting this virtual conference using Cisco Webex Events, an web-based, interactive platform that you can join straight from your web browser, or by downloading the Webex application on your computer or tablet. 

For the best experience, we recommend the following best practices: 

1) Download the Desktop App:
While you can choose to join each session via browser or desktop app, we strongly recommend that you download and install the Webex Meetings Desktop Application before the conference. If you face download restrictions on your work-issued device, we recommend that you work with your IT department ahead of the conference to download the desktop application. 

2) Download the Browser Extension for Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge: 
If IT restrictions prevent you from downloading the desktop app, you can also join through your web browser. We recommend using Google Chrome as well downloading the Webex Extension for Google Chrome before you join. A Webex extension is also available for Microsoft Edge. 

3) Disconnect from Remote Desktop / VPN Connection:
If you are using a remote desktop (or VPN connection) to access your work computer from your home location, you may experience issues connecting to the conference sessions via Webex. We recommend disconnecting from your remote desktop / VPN before connecting to the sessions.

4) Run the Temporary Application (at time of connection):
Users with IT restrictions will also have the option to "Run a temporary application" to allow them to connect to the sessions. If you are experiencing issues connecting, please follow the prompts to download the temporary application to enable your connection.

    • If using a Mac, you may be asked to download a plugin prior to joining the first session

  • Chrome OS (through the Cisco Webex Meetings Web App or the Webex Meetings Android App)
