New Policy Briefs Highlight Value of Service System Management

August 23, 2018

Following June's provincial election, OMSSA has consulted with members to prepare policy briefings outlining the role and value of service system management in Ontario's communities, as well as key priorities for Service System Managers.

In addition to consulting directly through our Board of Directors, 47 Leadership Table, Policy Advisory Committee, Employment and Income Issues Network, Children's Services Network and the Northern Ontario Service Deliverers Association (NOSDA), our briefing on housing and homelessness was heavily informed by facilitated discussions that took place at our recent Housing Summit that happened in June.

A key purpose of the briefs was to support our meetings with incoming Ontario Ministers, to highlight both the value of the Service System Management role and the key priorities for our sector. The relevant briefs have been provided to Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Steve Clark, Minister of Children, Community and Social Services Lisa MacLeod, and Minister of Education Lisa Thompson at our delegation meetings that took place at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario's (AMO's) Annual Conference in Ottawa from August 19 to 22 in Ottawa.

The policy briefs are also designed to act as resources for members. Many have already indicated that they plan to use the briefs to educate incoming municipal councillors and other stakeholders on the service system management role.

The policy briefs have now been posted here on our website, and you can find a direct link to the PDF of each brief below:
We encourage you to share and make use of these resources to suit your needs.
