Participants will focus on the Directives and Clearinghouses related to eligibility criteria of cases deemed as sponsored and obligations of sponsorship support.We will examine other eligibility criteria for Refugee Claimants, the Participation Requirements and Residency Requirements, and will:
Focus on eligibility for Victims of Family Violence, processes to notify sponsor without further risk or harm to recipients
Assess CHPI funded emergency shelters – calculating the assistance
Examine eligibility for persons in Interval and Transition Homes – calculating Personal Needs Allowance
Examine Absent Spousal declarations where prospect of reconciliation is unlikely
Look at support requirements
Understand the role of Translations Services and necessary form signatures
Focus on Stability Supports and the role of interpreters and immigrant/new citizen services
Participants will focus on eligibility for singles and couples under 18 cases that have special circumstances, and will:
Examine Participation Requirements and the role of education
Examine the necessity of school attendance monitoring
Focus on earnings for under 18 recipients
Look at employment benefits for those who have completed secondary school
Assess spousal situations and eligibility criteria
Examine Under Age 18 Living at Parents with their own Dependent Child
Understand Asset Exemptions for Registered Education Savings Plans
Learn about victims of Family Violence and appropriate resources related to Stability Supports
Gain an understanding trusteeship roles and responsibilities
Participants will focus on Asset Limits and conversion/liquidation of assets, and will:
Look at the difference between squandered assets and inadequate disposition of assets to qualify for Ontario Works
Examine excess asset amounts and period of ineligibility
Look at why eligibility can review normally the last 12 months from application but also the last 36 months by exception
Assess selling or converting an asset below asset limits and above asset limits
Understand exempt assets
Understand second Properties
Learn the difference between personal property possessions versus objects with an asset value bargained and sold in trade
Participants will focus on their knowledge of employment outcomes and the impact on local CMSM/DSSAB budget performance, and will:
Learn how to access your own CMSM/DSSAB performance outcome data and comparing to neighboring CMSMs/DSSABS with similar population and economic commonalities
Measure successes over failures and defining both
Look at other questionnaires or employment assessment tools used by CMSMs/DSSABs
Learn definitions/distinct differences between Restrictions and Deferrals in Participation
Look at the role of Stability Supports and the impact on employability
Learn about identification and resolution of barriers both systemic and individual
Examine types of employment benefits available
Examine advanced/up front expenses including costs associated with employment, participation, and childcare
Participants will focus on a case study to learn about settlement for economic and non-economic financial losses, and exceeding shelter allowance maximums due to heat costs, and will:
Examine directives related to settlement agreements and other awards
Look at assignment of income, exempt income, and asset sources
Assess Referrals to other disability related services and benefits
Examine a case where heat costs exceed shelter maximums and the impact of high heat costs on an Ontario Works budget through SAMS utility and expense and the importance of accurate costs
Look at a procured wood chart for persons that heat with this type of energy
Understand the role of Stability Supports and the impact on employability
Participants will focus on case studies that focus on self-employment, and will:
Learn the Difference between Incorporations and Sole Propriety
