THIS IS A FULL-TIME TEMPORARY NON-BARGAINING UNIT POSITION (UP TO 3 YEARS), WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION.

1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Under the direction of the Construction & Project Manager, the Field Supervisor is responsible for managing on-site construction, restoration, and special projects related to the Repair and Renewal program; LMCH has been funded $40,000,000 for this program by CMHC. The focus of these projects will be to increase accessibility at tenant units and common areas, decrease energy use and GHG emissions by 30%, and complete property repairs. The Field Supervisor has responsibility for overseeing assigned construction activities ensuring health and safety requirements are met, schedules are maintained, and work is completed based on scope and specifications.  This position is a bargaining-excluded role for 3 years which may be extended.
 
2. KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Have oversight over sub-trades, suppliers, and consultants to ensure they fulfill their contractual obligations safely, on time, and on budget.
  • Assist the Construction & Project Manager in executing and managing projects including, but not limited to, scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.
  • Complete deficiency walk-throughs and maintain records for completeness
  • Carry out site visits to track progress, ensure quality control and identify areas of concern to address immediately or escalate as appropriate.
  • Take the lead in the preparation and implementation of comprehensive communication plans for assigned projects to ensure all stakeholders/tenants understand project schedule and the value the project brings to the building/organization along with how any disruptions anticipated will be mitigated.
  • Understand project methodology by the contractor and determine best practices and at-risk tasks.
  • Liaise in a collaborative way with LMCH staff (both unionized and non-unionized) to facilitate and support ongoing projects and initiatives as appropriate.
  • Provide solutions to tenant or LMCH team queries/concerns.
  • Complete training in all new equipment installations and ensure training is passed on to all key stakeholders; develop training schedules.
  • Facilitate the exchange of information between LMCH, subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and bodies of authority in a professional, concise, and timely fashion.
  • Support project administration particularly around invoicing.
  • Prepare project reports and documentation weekly.
  • Ensure occupancy letters, permits etc. are recorded and maintained.
  • Prepare and deliver tenant notice of entry and other communications for the projects.
  • Identify and bring cost savings opportunities, scope gaps, and procedural improvements forward to Management.
  • Support the response to, and documentation of incidents on site including, but not limited to, injuries, property damage, theft, or harassment.
  • Liaise with regulatory officials including, but not limited to, Municipal Staff, Electrical Safety Authority, Technical Standards and Safety Authority, Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Labour, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
3. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of the construction and project management disciplines.
  • Strong construction, mechanical, and electrical knowledge.
  • Supervisor Competency
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, have access to a reliable vehicle, and carry adequate insurance.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

5. POLICE RECORDS CHECK and VULNERABLE POSITION SCREENING:
This position requires the successful candidate submit a current Police Records check from their local police service. A current LMCH employee who is the successful candidate for this position must also provide this document unless it is already on file and not more than one year old.

6. SALARY & BENEFITS:
Target salary range of $63,759.01 to $73,421.24 with a comprehensive health benefits plan.
 
Normal working hours are 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Monday to Friday, with some work required outside of this schedule from time to time.
