Job Summary
Provide customer centred, inclusive quality child care in a safe, nurturing, developmental appropriate program for children.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensures that all actions and activities are consistent with the CCEYA regulations, and maintains application of Health and Safety Standards.
  • Plans and develops inquiry based learning under the leadership of the supervisor and ensures programming aligns with How does Learning Happen? and highlights child learning through documentation.  
  • Able to effectively use Authentic Assessment of children and understands the importance of documentation.
  • Prepares, maintains, and supervises classroom and playground activities.  
  • Collaborates with Resource Consultants in regards to the planning and implementation of programs and activities for children with special needs.
  • Communicates with supervisor and staff on pertinent information concerning children and their families. 
  • Listens, responds, and provides guidance to families, supply staff, students and volunteers in program planning, child care, and community resources.
  • Utilizes service coordination with customers to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Attends regular staff and team meetings 
  • Participates in student evaluations, parent/teacher interviews and prepares children’s progress reports as required. 
  • Participates and supports centre with the Quality First Initiative and Quality MAP. 
  • Performs housekeeping duties as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications
Essential
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized community college.
  • Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Working knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act.
  • Understanding of Family Centred Practice.
 
Preferred
  • Experience working with children with developmental delays.
  • Knowledge of Assessment tools.
  • French and/or additional languages.
  • Computer literacy.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Standard first Aid certification including infant and child CPR
