General Manager, Housing (Regional Municipality of York)

York Region Community and Health Services Department wishes to recruit an outstanding new leader to the General Manager, Housing role. Reporting to the Commissioner, Community and Health Services, the General Manager, Housing will develop, manage and lead all activities in the York Region Housing portfolio, including: strategic planning; business planning and budgets; leadership and policy development; housing service system leadership; Housing York Inc. (HYI) activities; human resource management and team leadership; and, communication and customer service activities. The General Manager, Housing will carry out this work with a focus on progressive improvement to systems and processes to help proactively predict and manage change within the York Region Housing Branch. This role will also work closely with the Community and Health Services leadership team, the HYI Board of Directors, business partners and community organizations, and other key stakeholders in the Region.
 
As an ideal candidate, you are a highly respected and proven leader, who can create and communicate a compelling vision of the future and the plan to achieve improved results. To the role, you bring 10+ years of progressive experience acquired within government, the field of housing, or another social service area where you have senior managerial experience that includes community programs, capital project development, strategic program management, as well as financial and budget administration. You have the interest and aptitude to mentor and coach, to inspire and lead, and to manage change and work with senior level executives and stakeholders, all while fostering effective partnerships inside, outside and across the Region. With strong political acuity, you will use these skills and experiences to develop and implement strategic and business plans that will ensure fulfilment of York Region Housing Branch’s goals and objectives, all while providing excellent service to housing tenants and residents of the Region.
