Children's Services Summit
Ontario's Ministry of Education will be working to develop a new child care plan in 2019. The Ministries of Education and Finance are also working to develop a new refundable child care tax credit, as promised in the 2018 election campaign. More recently, the Province introduced legislative changes in their “Restoring Ontario’s Competitiveness Act”, which would change and loosen restrictions around home-based and unlicensed child care.
Given the speed and magnitude of potential changes on the horizon, OMSSA is working quickly to convene a summit of senior human and children’s services leaders. Featuring a member-led agenda, the Summit will be a crucial opportunity to define shared priorities and positions, and prepare ourselves to bring these forward to the Province with a strong, united voice.
To ensure we can have a productive, meaningful discussion, attendance will be limited to two senior representatives per Service Manager.
