Health Services - Strategic Policy and Performance
Contract Duration:  Approximately thirteen (13) months

 
Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Initiatives in Health Services, this position is responsible for convening and facilitating the Community Response Table (CRT).  Working within a matrix structure, the Advisor will work under the program direction of the Co-Sponsors from Human Services and Health Services along with members of their respective teams. 
 
The CRT was created in March 2020 in direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a place where those that provide services to vulnerable and at-risk populations come together to creatively solution, enhance system integration, and build collective capacity to better serve Peel.
 
What you will do
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships among internal and external stakeholders including Regional staff, other levels of government, community-based service providers, service users, and the community in order to identify opportunities, align resources and maximize system efficiencies and to advance collective priorities.
  • Lead strategic planning and implementation, internal and external projects, initiatives, task forces, working groups to respond to community issues and advance shared priorities.
  • Create opportunities within and for the Region to increase understanding of community needs and solutions, anticipate changes and adapt the work to collectively address trends.
  • Develop structures and processes for efficient sharing and integration of information and intelligence internally and with partners to enable responses to community issues.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration and coordination within the Region and with external partner agencies.
  • Prepare Council reports, briefing notes, position papers and presentations for distribution and presentation to the appropriate Regional management, partners and external stakeholders.
  • Lead consultations for planning purposes with staff, community partners and clients that requires analysis and interpretation leading to agreement on common themes and priorities by various parties.
 
What We Require
  • Relevant post-secondary degree in Health or Human Services or a related field, combined with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in strategic planning, community development and partnership building within diverse communities.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
  • In depth working knowledge of community needs, community development theories and practices as well as advocacy and planning models and acts proactively and creatively to anticipate impact, opportunities and value.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate information to improve existing programs or to develop new approaches or processes as well as collect and analyze performance data and recommend methods to improve performance.
  • Political awareness, sufficient to identify and respond to situations using tact and diplomacy to understand the various parties and stakeholders involved in decision making processes, and to anticipate their likely reaction to statements, proposals, recommendations and situations.
  • Analytical skills necessary for needs reviews, research, statistics, root cause analysis and planning. Identify accountabilities, accomplishments and measurement methods to monitor progress toward goal attainment.
Nice to have but not required
  • Experience developing or applying diversity, equity and inclusion frameworks an asset.
  • An understanding of the political and administrative culture in municipal government.
 
Location: In this role you will have the ability to work mostly remote.  You will be required to occasionally attend on-site meetings based on operational requirements at 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario. 

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
