Lanark County is seeking a high energy, dynamic, professional to fill the following regular full-time opportunity in our Social Services Department starting December 1, 2021.
 
REGULAR FULL-TIME
ONTARIO WORKS MANAGER

MANDATE:

To manage, direct and lead Ontario Works staff and administer the Ontario Works program ensuring effective service delivery. Act as system administrator (in collaboration with the IT Department) for the Social Services suite of technology systems, including implementation, maintenance, security, troubleshooting and training. To act in place of the Director of Social Services in their absence. Respond in the event of a Peacetime Emergency. To ensure that all employees perform work in accordance with relevant Health and Safety legislation and corporate/departmental policies and procedures.
 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4 year University Degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ of related progressive experience, including management ideally in a Service Manager role or related social service agency. 
  • Requires excellent communication skills to handle matters of a sensitive, highly confidential or contentious nature requiring careful listening, concise writing and strong oral skills. Must possess the ability to negotiate, problem solve, prioritize, build relationships, manage change and create a positive working environment.
  • Demonstrated supervisory, leadership and financial management skills.
  • Sound working knowledge of Ontario Works Act and experience managing in a unionized environment are assets.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s licence and have access to a vehicle.
  • Must meet job demands, physical and cognitive.
 
In addition to a competitive salary (2021 Non Union Group Salary Grid, Level 11 ($86,873 to $112,086 – pending job evaluation), we offer a comprehensive compensation package. The hours of work are 35 hours per week with the ability to work overtime as required.  Overtime is not compensated (management lieu-time only).
