Position Summary

This position contributes to development of divisional and departmental strategic plans and as appropriate leads implementation of related goals and objectives.

The program supervisor provides leadership, project management, and support for collaborative planning, both within the division and at the community level, intended to i) advance housing and homelessness cross-sectorial service integration; ii) strengthen community resources and sector capacity; and iii) support development and implementation of poverty reduction initiatives.

From a systems perspective, this position identifies social policy options and system transformation opportunities that are consistent with human services integration and provides summary recommendations to senior staff as required.

The program supervisor manages agreements with contracted service providers and provides information, support, direction, and guidance to ensure programs are delivered in a cost effective, responsive manner, in accordance with County policy and applicable provincial and/or federal legislation.

This position may oversee research and evaluation projects undertaken by Research Analysts.  This position provides summary analyses to senior departmental and/or divisional staff and makes recommendations as required.

Position Requirements

  1. A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in social services administration, community development and planning or other related areas, plus two (2) years in a supervisory role.
  2. Strong knowledge of social service administration obtained through a three (3) year degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
  3. Good supervisory skills and the ability to interpret and apply employment policies and collective agreements and to provide direction to funded service providers and their boards of directors.
  4. Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  5. Good knowledge of community planning, an understanding of business accounting and program administration principles and practices.
  6. Knowledge of word-processing and spreadsheet application skills.
  7. Valid G class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  8. Criminal reference check with vulnerable sector clearance.

Compensation Information
$91,150.00 - $109,382.00 per annum
