Ontario Works Agent (County of Renfrew)



Renfrew Site—Contract until December 31, 2021


Reporting to the Ontario Works Supervisor, the Ontario Works Agent will focus on homelessness prevention and act as a community resource liaison to collaborate with existing service providers in Renfrew County and bring forward further initiatives to help address homelessness in our communities. The successful candidate will facilitate community engagement, demonstrate innovation and advocacy, and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Social Sciences or related field, or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum one-year related work experience (i.e. social services/homelessness advocacy/outreach counselling)
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy required
  • High level of initiative, innovation, and independent judgement and ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to conduct research and complete written reports, compile advanced statistical reports, and prepare and deliver presentations
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team-oriented organization
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Bilingualism preferred as the successful candidate will be required to meet with FLS agencies and prepare correspondence in both official languages 

Compensation:

$35.00—$39.94 per hour, no benefits
