Position Summary

The Affordable Housing Field Coordinator’s primary role will be a key component in the delivery of County affordable housing programs and the Investment in Affordable Housing Program, including support for creation of secondary suites, delivered through a team-based approach. While reporting to the Program Manager Maintenance and Facilities, the position will be required to provide technical field expertise, including the review and processing of applications, quotations, requested work and repairs, as well as to prioritise and effectively schedule site visits as required. In addition, the position will be required to review completed work and prepare written reports to homeowners and other pertinent stakeholders outlining any code violations, errors in construction and/or to approve projects within County policies and Provincial guidelines/legislation. This position also provides advice and guidance to home owners, property managers, and contractors to ensure consistent and technically sound construction and renovation techniques and practices are applied throughout the program. This will include advice on suggested repairs, suggested materials, applicable legislation and standards, deficiencies related to the buildings, building envelope systems, mechanical and electrical systems, accessibility, and safety & security.

Position Requirements

1. Completion of a minimum two (2) year related diploma from a recognized community college (e.g. Building or facility operations) and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in progressively responsible, related positions.

3. Strong knowledge of all facets of building construction, materials and methods.

4. Knowledge of mechanical, structural, gas, electrical, environmental systems and facility infrastructure as well as familiarity with the Building, Electrical and Fire Code, accessibility and related renovation issues.

5. Ability to read and interpret renovation and construction drawings.

6. Self-motivated, able to act independently and as part of a team.

7. Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.

8. Proven ability to foster a cooperative work environment.

9. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

10. Strong planning and organizational skills.

11. Strong independent working ability.

12. Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.

13. Knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, and auto-cad application skills.

14. Valid G class driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

15. Available for after-hours call-outs and meetings.

16. Criminal reference check with vulnerable sector clearance.

17. Bilingualism in English and French considered an asset.

Compensation

$70,797.00 - $84,954.00 per annum
