A rewarding place to work and live, the City of Stratford, as Consolidated Municipal Service Manager for The City of Stratford, Town of St. Marys and the County of Perth, is inviting applications for the position of Director of Social Services.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, while actively engaging and collaborating with senior team members, the Director will lead a management and staff team in the effective administration, delivery and operation of social services and programs provided by the Ontario Works, Housing and Child Care Divisions, Perth & Stratford Housing Corporation and Anne Hathaway Day Care Centre.

You will work in partnership with the community and leverage strong leadership to coach, mentor and motivate staff, and provide guidance on strategic, tactical and technical service delivery matters. Responsibilities include preparation and management of department budgets and reports, liaison with local, provincial, federal and agencies, service partners and representatives to develop and implement policies, procedures, reports, and strategies. A creative thinker and strong collaborator, you will define problems, collect information and develop valid, innovative and timely solutions to a variety of complex situations. Overseeing management to ensure compliance with all legislative requirements, you will recommend and lead the revision and implementation of local Ontario Works, Child Care and Housing service delivery systems and outcomes in accordance with provincial and municipal mandates and directives, including those related to community emergency planning and response. Liaising with Council and the Corporate Leadership Team, you must demonstrate an understanding of municipal operations while providing advice on social service issues. In your role as a media spokesperson for the Department, you will consult with stakeholders and the general public regarding all related social service issues.

As an ideal candidate, you have a university degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or Finance combined with a minimum of eight years of progressive experience in a management position. In addition, you bring a reputation for integrity, common sense, sound judgement, financial management, negotiation, customer focus, building a team of high performing professionals, and detail-orientation.


Annual Salary Range: $113,487 - $132,765 (2018 rates) including a comprehensive benefit package.
