Region of Peel

Given the strong focus on housing with supports identified in the 10 Year Peel Housing and Homelessness Plan, the Region of Peel undertook a Supportive Housing Supply and Demand Analysis and Action Plan to identify and address the supportive housing needs and gaps in the region.  This study also captured the extent of supported services provided by a wide range of agencies operating in Peel Region.  The process allowed the Region to enable creative and constructive dialogue with community stakeholders (through the Advisory Committee, three consultation workshops, surveys and interviews), all with the common purpose: "to strengthen the future of supportive housing throughout the Region of Peel".

Stakeholders represented various areas of expertise and organizations including: supportive housing, affordable housing, support services and health services, Local Health Integration Networks in Peel (LHIN), Community Care Access Centres (CCAC) the Ministry of Housing (MOH), the Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS) and the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC).

The Plan established an understanding about the need to bring the Housing System and Health System together to meet a shared need and recognizes the challenges that exist for individuals and families when these systems aren't aligned.
