Municipal Accessibility Award (NEW)

The award recognizes a champion who, in celebration of Ontario’s 150th Anniversary, has displayed extraordinary leadership and made an exceptional contribution to the awareness of, activities associated with, or programs advancing accessibility in their municipality/district. This also includes a focus on creating vibrant, accessible and inclusive communities by reflecting on lessons learned from the past, and aspirations for the future.

This is an inaugural award and recipient(s) will be honoured at OMSSA’s Annual Leadership Symposium in May, 2017.

The recipient of this award is decided by the OMSSA Board of Directors. Eligibility criteria include:

  • The recipient can be a municipality/district or a team of individuals or a single individual from that municipality/district.
  • Activities/programs/outcomes must exceed current compliance standards of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
  • Must demonstrate innovation, forward thinking and sustainability.
  • Must positively and measurably advance the accessibility experience in the municipality/district.
