    We are currently seeking to hire a Superintendent of Quality Assurance located in the community of Dryden, ON to join our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team.     Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Professional Standards and in collaboration with the EMS management team, the Superintendent of Quality Assurance is responsible for implementing and maintaining a continuous quality improvement program within Northwest EMS. 

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Maintain a continuous quality improvement program that entails investigating, monitoring, evaluating and improving ambulance operations and patient care through processes such as; standards reviews and compliance, documentation compilation and review, ACR auditing, ride outs, patient satisfaction surveys, and peer evaluations.
    • Maintain electronic database of required certifications and ensure all records are current and up to date at all times.
    • Work with management team to ensure verification and maintenance of key service review documentation and that it meets internal and external needs.      
    • Maintain electronic records to assist with quality assurance initiatives (i.e. defibrillators, stretchers, vehicles, oxygen equipment, etc.…).
    • Ensure Paramedics comply with organizational policies and procedures and all applicable legislation, regulations, standards, protocols, and practices as they relate to the Paramedics’ daily duties and obligations.
    • Initiate and participate in investigative efforts regarding patient care or other EMS related issues.
    • Review and report on the effectiveness of continuous quality improvement programs and making recommendations to the appropriate staff.
    • Participating in the strategic planning for the KDSB land ambulance service and contribute to budget planning and development.
    • Work as a part of the team and demonstrate commitment, spirit, pride and trust to accomplish team goals.
    • Perform other EMS management duties as required including assisting with operations, training and performing requirements of Duty Officer when needed. 

    Successful candidates will have:

    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of quality assurance resources and system tools are preferred including use of electronic databases for monitoring and analysis of patient care and documentation.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of electronic patient care reporting resources and system tools for monitoring and analysis of patient care and documentation.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of current acts, legislation, standards, and medical and emergency response procedures pertaining to ambulance services, emergency dispatch systems, and protocols.
    • Requires the ability to develop strong relationships with paramedics, administrative and management staff with advanced problem-solving and public relations skills.
    • Strong research, project/time management and analytical/critical thinking skills are required.
    • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications and ability to learn new software which is relevant to the position.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing, with the ability to make presentations to large groups and a variety of audiences. 

    Qualifications will include:

    • Holds the qualification of an Advanced Emergency Medical Care Attendant (A-EMCA), is certified as a Primary Care Paramedic in Ontario and has a minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience working in EMS.
    • Demonstrated supervisory, management and leadership skills.
    • Management and/or Quality Assurance education or experience is considered an asset.
    • Understanding of allied or public health care agencies through work on committees is considered an asset. 

    Along with an excellent benefit package and participation in the OMERS pension plan, we offer a salary ranging from $83,479.33- $95,352.06 per annum.
