    The Project Management and Business Transformation Unit is one unit within the Strategic Initiatives Division, an enabling division that supports teams within the Human Services Department, across the organization and community groups to enhance effective service delivery and supports to clients and residents of Peel. 

    Reporting to the Manager, Project Management and Business Transformation you will be responsible for the all the work undertaken as part of Human Services project(s) including visioning, research, consultation, analysis, recommendations and implementation.   This role is responsible to lead medium well defined projects to meet departmental needs and priorities, supporting program areas to implement and sustain project deliverables/outcomes. 

    What you will be responsible for… 

    • Responsible for all key project documents and correspondence including the Project Charter, Work Breakdown Structure, Change Management Plan, Communication Strategy, Project Workplan, project status reports etc.
    • Responsible for progressing the project work through all project phases (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling and close-out)
    • Provides ongoing support, guidance and expert advice as it relates to business efficiencies and the project management discipline
    • Assesses work requests, completes Scopes of Work and makes recommendations for prioritization of projects within the department
    • Provides regular reporting to the Manager, Project Sponsor, Steering Committee, CDM, CDMS and other stakeholders as appropriate
    • Completes work in support of the Strategic Plan, Term of Council Priorities and other departmental/corporate priorities
    • Provides recommendations to ensure all services provided by Human Services are client centered value added, effective, and efficient which results in positive community impact
    • Plans, consults and conducts functional and business analyses with key stakeholders
    • Collaborates with clients, community partners and key stakeholders including Council in order to ensure the that the services provided in the department continue to meet the needs of Peel
    • Manages a complex portfolio with the ability to balance competing interests and priorities across the Human Services department
    • Develops presentation materials and facilitates various sessions to gather information for the project or to inform others of project information 

    Qualifications:

    • Post secondary degree in a Human Services related field and a minimum of 5 years experience in the Human Services sector or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
    • At least one year of experience leading a medium to large project(s)
    • Working knowledge of the legislation that supports Human Services delivery, including but not limited to the following acts: Ontario Works, Child Care and Early Years, Social Housing Reform, Ontario Disability Support Program and Child and Family Services
    • Experience in applying change management principles and methodologies and the ability to lead as well as manage and support change
    • Research and analytical skills to gather, analyze and synthesize data and develop recommendations as necessary
    • Knowledge of performance measurement to ensure evaluation and continuous improvement are built into the project(s) 
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying project management methodologies
    • Ability to develop and monitor budgets
    • Short and long term planning skills and ability to execute various project plans
    • Demonstrated leadership, negotiation, facilitation and mentoring skills
    • Strong understanding of and ability to apply evidence-based decision-making
    • Knowledge of systems used to support project management and Microsoft Office 

    Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Suite B Brampton

    Duration: Contract Full Time; up to 2 positions- up to 13 months

    Hours of work: 8:30am-4:30pm Monday to Friday 35 hours/week
