    Learning and Development Specialist #22755

    Location: Newmarket, Ontario. This is a Union position.

    Scheduled Weekly Hours: As Required and Varied; Operational Hours: 0830 - 1630

    Casual/On-Call, Salary $39.90 - $43.37 per hour  

    Reporting to the Program Manager, Education and Training, is responsible for planning, designing, developing, organizing, and delivering and monitoring training programs consistent with provincial and departmental program applications and technologies; undertakes and participates in research, special projects and evaluation of practices and procedures. 

    Qualifications                                                                                                

    • Successful completion of a College diploma in Business Administration, Social Services, adult education, or a related discipline or equivalent approved combination of education and experience.
    • Three (3) years significant demonstrated experience in positions where the majority of duties relate to social service case co-ordination and/or training and development in this program area or a related program area.
    • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering adult training or adult education.
    • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in instructional design, analysis, measurement and evaluative methods, facilitation and presentation skills.
    • Knowledge of Department program delivery operations, programs and services, computer systems, and the community served.
    • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self-management, accountability, flexibility and adaptability.
    • Computer literacy in a Windows environment utilizing MS Office applications, as well as knowledge of technology supporting the required provincial programs. Analytical research, planning, co-ordination and project management skills with the ability to work independently on diverse projects.
    • Ability to problem solve and work with constantly changing legislation, program delivery requirements, and/or organizational structure.
    • Ability to identify areas for constructive change and communicate issues and potential solutions to management.
    • Ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
    • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
