  • Good Shepherd Centres Hamilton, a ministry of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, strives to enhance the quality of life for all who seek assistance and support in our community. An opportunity currently exists in our Women’s Services division which provides a continuum of services to women and women with children experiencing a range of crises including abuse, poverty and homelessness. 


    Full Time 

    The Director of Women’s Services will be an innovative senior manager committed to facilitating excellence in service provision to women and women and their children who face complex barriers to achieving safe, sustainable lives in our community. This role involves planning, managing, directing and evaluating operations for a continuum of shelter, counselling and housing-focused programs and services. The successful candidate will be a community leader with a strong intersectional, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, feminist approach to service provision, advocacy and community collaboration. The Director will possess a deep understanding of gender based violence in all its forms. This role requires a strategic thinker with superior communication, management and human resource skills. 

    Qualifications include: 

    • Significant experience working with women and children impacted by a broad range of issues including abuse, poverty, homelessness, settlement issues, mental health issues and addiction in both residential and community-based service settings
    • Extensive knowledge of related community services and a demonstrated ability to develop, participate in and share leadership in community collaborations and partnerships
    • Progressive experience and demonstrated competence in a senior management position in the human services sector
    • Experience managing in a unionized environment
    • Superior verbal and written communication skills; including proven abilities related to public speaking and adult education
    • Experience in program planning, evaluation and budgeting
    • Ability to speak French and/or additional languages is considered an asset.
