Lanark County, Children’s Services Manager

  • Lanark County is seeking a high energy, dynamic, professional to fill the following regular full-time management opportunity in our Social Services Department starting July 2, 2018.

    CHILDREN’S SERVICES MANAGER

    (POSTING #SS2018-004)

    MANDATE:

    Reporting to the Director of Social Services, the Children’s Services Manager will manage and provide leadership to the Children’s Services staff as well as administer the budget process.   They will develop strong partnerships with licensed child care providers including non-profit, municipal and commercial operators and school boards, as well as other community service providers in order to facilitate ongoing engagement and communication that results in planning processes that respond to the diverse needs of children, families and service providers. In addition, they will respond in the event of a Peacetime Emergency. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 4 Year University Degree in Social Work or related discipline.
    • Minimum 5 years’ of related progressive experience, including supervisory in a related field
    • Demonstrated supervisory, leadership and financial budgeting skills.
    • Requires excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills.
    • Must possess the ability to negotiate, problem solve and prioritize.
    • Possesses the ability to review and evaluate key programs and their related funding.
    • Experience networking and preparing reports for Ministry and service providers.
    • Requires a high level of computer proficiency in current and program related technologies.
    • Sound working knowledge of relevant legislation is required.
    • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
    • Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s licence and have access to a vehicle in order to attend off site meetings on a weekly basis. 

    In addition to a competitive salary (2018 Non Union Group Salary Grid, Level 9 $68,650 to $88,634), we offer a comprehensive compensation package. The hours of work are 35 hours per week with the ability to work overtime as required. Overtime is not compensated (management lieu-time only).
