    Program Coordinator - Homelessness Initiatives #22304

    Location: Newmarket, Ontario. This is a Union position.

    Scheduled Weekly Hours: 35; Scheduled Shifts: 0830 - 1630

    Temporary Full-Time, Approx. 15 months, Salary $43.87 - $47.69 per hour  

    Reporting to the Program Manager, Community Development, is responsible for the development, coordination administration of a range of Homelessness Programs and Initiatives; providing advice and direction to external community partners and liaising with other funders to deliver program initiatives in accordance with Regional program policies and standards and funding requirements; monitoring funding activities and program budgets; and assessing and reporting on project results. 

    Qualifications                                                     

    • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Social Services or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience in a social or housing field
    • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a social or housing field or working with a community agency with a focus on administration and planning, project management, and community initiative development.
    • Experience leading community projects, managing budgets and monitoring community partners and agencies for compliance with agreements.
    • Knowledge of applicable legislation including Provincial Statutes and Regulations as they apply to services and initiatives for the homeless.
    • Knowledge of community, health and social services and linkages to the communities served.
    • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self-management.
    • Demonstration of Departmental competencies, including flexibility and adaptability, accountability, strategic thinking, innovation and creativity, and collaboration.
    • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications.
    • Strong presentation, negotiation, facilitation, mediation and project management skills.
    • Ability to research, analyse and interpret data and data collection.
    • Ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
    • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
